Tilly Boost is a 16-9-25 fertilizer concentrate made specifically for Tillandsia air plants and bromeliads. One 4 ounce (113 g) pack, with a measuring scoop included, mixes into many gallons of feeding solution.
Made for plants that never touch soil
Air plants feed through trichomes, the small silvery scales covering their leaves, rather than through roots in a growing medium. That changes what a fertilizer needs to do. Tilly Boost supplies nitrogen in a free form that is available to the plant on contact, instead of the soil-dependent nitrogen used in most general-purpose plant foods, which has to be broken down by bacteria in soil before a plant can use any of it.
Nothing in it that works against tillandsias
Copper, boron and zinc are common inclusions in ordinary plant food and are known to be harmful to tillandsias. We removed all three. There are no colored dyes in the mix either, so nothing stains your plants, your mister or your hands.
The 16-9-25 balance
The formula runs 16 percent nitrogen for foliage, 9 percent phosphorus for roots and flowering, and 25 percent potassium, which plants draw on for water regulation, overall vigor and bloom quality. That potassium-forward balance is what drives the stronger growth and better blooms the label promises.
Mixing and feeding
The concentrate is 100 percent soluble and dissolves fully in cold water, so there is no need to warm anything first. Use the included scoop, stir into water, and apply however you normally water, whether that is misting, spraying or soaking.
- With every watering: 1/2 teaspoon per gallon of water
- Weekly or biweekly: 1 teaspoon per gallon of water
- Once per month: 1 1/2 teaspoons per gallon of water
What to use it on
Tillandsias of all kinds, including mounted specimens and Spanish moss, along with potted bromeliads. Because the formula is gentle and well balanced, it also works as a general feed for indoor and houseplants.
